Pattern:

Rows 1, 3, 7 and 9
Knit.
Row 2 and all WS rows Purl.
Row 5 Sl 3 sts to cn and hold to back, k3, k3 from cn., 6-st LC Sl 3 sts to cn and hold to front, k3, k3 from cn.
Row 10 Rep row 2.
Rep rows 1-10.

Note: this is a generic pattern for creating this cable. For a single cable it would be 12 stitches. In the example shown, there is one repeat of the stitch with 12 stitches are on either side, so you'd need to cast on 36 (12 + 12 + 12) stitches and knit 12 stitches before and after the pattern.

Note: the instructions below are a generic description of how to execute this stitch pattern. For a single repeat, you'd only need nineteen stitches but you'd have a VERY narrow piece! In the example shown, there are two repeats of the stitch, so to make a swatch that looks like the one shown, you need to cast on 33 stitches (2 x the multiple of 14 stitches needed for a single repeat of the pattern plus 5.)

Row 1 (RS) *K5, yo, SKP , k2, p1, k2, k2tog, yo; rep from *, end k5.
Rows 2 and 4 P9, *k1, p13; rep from * end k1, p9.
Row 3 K6, *yo, SKP, k1, p1, k1, k2tog, yo, k7; rep from *, end last rep k6.
Row 5 K7, *yo, SKP, p1, k2tog, yo, k9, rep from *, end last rep k7. Row 6 rep as row 2.

Note: this is a generic pattern for creating this stitch pattern. For a single repeat, it would be eight stitches plus two additional stitches (but you'd have a VERY narrow piece!) In the example shown, there are four repeats of the stitch, so to make the same, you need to cast on 34 stitches (8 x the 4 multiple plus the 2 extra stitches.)
Preparation row (RS) *P2, k1, yo, k1, p2, k2; rep from *, end p2.
Rows 1, 3 and 5 (WS) *K2, p2, k2, p3; rep from *, end k2.
Rows 2 and 4 *P2, k3, p2, k2; rep from *, end p2.v Row 6 *P2, k1, drop next st off needle and unravel to the yo 6 rows below, k1, p2, k1, yo, k1; rep from *, end p2.
